Floating house (Kuti Chine) room

Traditionally, the Siamese way of life was inextricably linked to the river. The waterway was used for transportation and general day-to-day living. The Chinese community, known as Kuti Chine, lived along Chaophaya River opposite the grand palace. The river was home to not just the Kuti Chine however, but also local Thais, other foreigners and Indian traders and was one of the most cosmopolitan places in the entire country.

This room invites guests to experience what life would have been like living in a floating house. The décor featured is what was found in a real houseboat of its time and also gives guests an insight into what was being sold at the time. This dorm room comfortably sleeps six in purpose-built large and comfortable bunk beds uniquely designed to make people feel like they’re in a houseboat. Enjoy the privacy of these beds which each contain their own lamps, electricity sockets and bedside shelves.
